Enthusiasts term it as "Rally-O". This sport can be played by ALL dogs, purebred or mixed breed, pets or titled champions, as well as physically challenged dogs and/or handlers. It has some characteristics of rally sports car racing, dog agility, and traditional obedience combined into a new fun sport.

As in agility, each course is different and a walk through is allowed. Some organizations allow lower levels to carry food and offers the choice to have the dog on or off leash. You are also allowed to talk to your dog. This can be a timed or untimed event depending on organization.

Signs are placed out (12'-15'), one at each station. Instructions on the sign tell the dog/handler team what to execute. Signs instruct teams to go fast or slow, to halt (dog must sit at heel), to make turns and circles, to reverse direction, to do a sit-stay-recall, or other basic obedience exercises. Everything is fun and enthusiastic.

I feel Rally is a good place to start before entering formal events in obedience as it builds the confidence of the dog/handler team.

You and your dog will learn to work as a team while improving your dog's skills.
